Lumberjack Sky Pilot DVD
Includes sensational footage of lumberjacks at work in the Adirondacks and Tug Hill region during the 1930’s and 1940’s. Dam building, log riding, log jam busting, Linn tractor lumber trains, lumberjack competitions and more. It was an epic episode of the sportsmen’s TV show, “Cabin Country,” featuring Reverend Frank Reed, one of very few itinerant preachers, or “sky pilots,” who visited lumber camps in the North Country. His 16mm film is an historic portrayal of the men who made their living with a buck saw and backs of steel. This is the same documentary that was shown for decades in upstate NY during annual PBS fund raising campaigns. No other film captures the cold, the danger and the exceptional skills of these working North Country lumberjacks at work in their winter camps.
New, shrink-wrapped, runs 60 minutes.
